"Download Yellow sn0w to unlock Iphone 3g", yellowsn0w iPhone 3G unlock has been released! This is yellowsn0w version 0.9 and it's still in beta so use it at your own risk.
Note: You must upgrade to the latest 02.28 baseband (firmware 2.2) in order to use this unlock and also jailbreak with QuickPWN/PwnageTool and add Cydia/Installer.

You can install yellowsn0w 3G unlock by using either Cydia or Installer, whichever you prefer. Below is a list of the repos/sources.
Note: The DevTeam also says that once you are done installing yellowsn0w through Cydia go back to the main menu on Cydia and restart your iPhone with the 3rd party SIM installed. Wait for the slide to unlock screen, and then wait 10-15 seconds. If you don't see your carrier name pop up you must remove your SIM, insert it again, and wait 10 seconds. (The DevTeam plans on elimintating this step)

Installation Instructions
1. Install BossPrefs and Yellowsn0w from Cydia
2. Disable everything in BossPrefs
3. Reboot your iPhone using BossPrefs
4. Wait 1.30 min when you see lockscreen
5. Take your sim out and insert it
6. Wait a moment
7. In settings turn on Fly Mode
8. Turn off Fly Mode
9. Your iPhone 3G should be working now!

Quick Question - My phone is an unlocked and Jailbroken iPhone 3g, Model MB489J, Modem Firmware 02.11.07. I bought the phone in China and it works perfectly, but I have no idea how it was unlocked, I'm not using a turbosim and there are no marks on the case to indicate that it's been opened and had the insides tampered with. I want to upgrade to 2.2 but know this is a risky process. Any ideas on how I should proceed?

yellowsn0w is only for iPhone 3G BASEBAND (SIMCARD BYPASS) unlocked for sim cards so it wont wotk on the ipod touch for now!!!

OK. Seems that I have found a workaround for the signal problem.
Here below is what I did.
1. re-install yellowsn0w from cydia
2. power off iphone
3. sim card out
4. power on iphone
5. after it's back again, insert your sim card and wait for a few secs
It's stable now.

hi guys!! I've downgraded from 2.2.1 to a 2.2....but my firmware is still a 02.30.03 not a 02.28!!!! and worst i can't get yellosn0w via cydia,each time i try to add it it says bad url....can anyone help me please??

Hi, i got through all the steps and have cydia and installer, installed yellowsn0w using cydia then i turn all settings off in bossprefs and then power off with bossprefs.
when i install sim card it doesnt do anything, i tried turning on fly mode then off again and after i do that i get 'invalid SIM'
im not sure what im doing or have done wrong!
